Has Kate Moss taken a good, long look at Pete Doherty's multiple
drug busts and recidivist tendencies and thought to herself, "Now there's prime
daddy material"? So claims the London Sunday Mirror, which says the stubbornly
smitten supermodel is eager to procreate with her substance-craving rocker beau.
"I love him and know that for all his faults, I will spend the rest of my
life with him ... and I want [4-year-old daughter] Lila to have a brother or a
sister," the paper quotes Kate as telling "a pal" (Doherty already has a son
with an ex-girlfriend). "But Pete has to stay off the drugs. And the only way
for that to happen is if he's with me all the time."
To that end, Moss reportedly urged recent rehab grad Doherty to nix the
remaining dates on his Babyshambles tour after growing concerned that he might fall
back into bad habits (his record label said the shows were canceled because he
"still needs time to recover from his extensive rehab treatment").
" ... She knows she can't have a baby while he's still into crack," the
confidante alleges to the paper. "That's why she is so determined he should
ditch the tour."
Things supposedly came to a head for the dysfunctional duo in the wee hours
of Friday morning, shortly after Babyshambles played a sold-out show in London,
when Kate booted Pete -- sans shirt and shoes -- out of her London home after a
"bitter bustup." While they managed to make up a few hours later, Moss is said
to have given Doherty a "band-or-me ultimatum."
"That was the moment Kate won. Pete accepted the only way to save their
romance was to call off the tour," tattles a fly-on-the-wall snitch, who adds
that Moss is "determined to hold on to the love of her life and she wants his
baby now. That is the stick she has used to persuade him to come off tour."
The Daily Mirror says the capricious, codependent couple spent the weekend at
Kate's Cotswolds estate, where they held "crisis talks" about his dependency
demons.
"Kate is so determined to help Pete kick the habit she's more or less locked
him up in her home where he's safe from any bad influences," says an insider.
"She wanted him to breathe the fresh air and realize that it is possible to
appreciate the nicer things in life without having to resort to drugs."
Adds the mole, "Kate wants to keep Pete as close to her as possible. And he's
got nowhere else to go ... it's either Kate's or rehab."
The London Sun, meanwhile, claims "crisis talks" also took place this weekend
between Doherty and the other members of Babyshambles, who were spotted in town.
"Pete has pledged his love to Kate and is desperate for a baby with her," a
mole tells the tab. "But she is refusing to commit to a long-term future unless
he dumps his band and his old druggie friends. He immediately cancelled the tour
but now he is considering quitting the group altogether. Kate wants him to prove
that he can settle down and live a normal life."
And while we're guessing "normal" isn't at the top of the list of things that
attracted Moss to the handcuff-prone Doherty, she's purportedly been telling
pals that they've not only begun trying to dilute the gene pool, but that a
tropical aisle-walk is in the works.
Kate, 32, allegedly wants to bundle Pete, 27, off to Jamaica, a country with
a reputation about as squeaky clean as Nicole Richie's dinner plate when it comes to narcotics and
partying, to tie the knot and continue his recovery process.
"They don't want a big, fancy wedding. Both of them just want to run away
somewhere no one will find them -- that's why Kate thinks Jamaica will be
perfect," the chatty source explains to the Sunday Mirror. "She knows he is a
rough diamond, but she's determined to build her life with him."
