It has all the makings of a buddy comedy -- or perhaps a really scary movie: A rehabbed father and his in-treatment daughter retreat to a remote mountain lodge to bond. High jinks ensue.

For better or worse, that "Postcards From the Edge" meets "The Shining" scenario will reportedly play out this week in Utah as Lindsay Lohan and her dad, Michael, spend five days together in a secluded location in Utah.

People reports the self-control-lacking starlet, 21, is expected to begin her temporary timeout from the deluxe Cirque Lodge, where she has been 12-stepping for the last two months (in between smoking, shopping, romance rumor rebuffing and self-tanning) on Tuesday.

"It can only help her recovery," LiLo's PR-minded mom-ager Dina tells People (via e-mail) of the sure-to-be-dysfunction-filled daddy-daughter time. "It's time to mend."

Michael, whose three-year estrangement from his famous if jail-bound offspring ended in September, when he trekked to Utah for a fences-mending visit, is also flapping his frequently in-motion gums about the planned excursion.

"We've still got a lot of catching up to do," he informs the New York Daily News. "She's in a great, great place now. I've never heard her so honest, contrite and focused."

Kvells Michael, who was released from the pokey in March after serving more than a year on assault and DUI charges, "Lindsay is weeding out all the bad. She's taking a step back and re-evaluating her life. What she tells -- her honesty and openness -- has brought me to tears. It's beyond words how proud I am of her."

Dina helpfully points out to People that the protection order she filed against her ex during their acrimonious divorce means the two of them can't visit their daughter at the same time, although she allows, "He is visiting Lindsay alone because we are giving her dad a chance to make amends."

A mole from Michael's camp tells People the one-on-one time was the actress' idea, while the New York Daily News says counselors at Cirque Lodge gave the trip -- billed as "outpatient therapy" -- their stamp of approval.

"He knows the pitfalls and temptations that await someone preparing to leave rehab," a source tells the paper of Michael. "He wants to be there for Lindsay now because so many times in the past, he wasn't able to be when she needed him."
