Lindsay Lohan is an hour late for her press
conference. And she honestly has a legitimate excuse: She has a hairline
fracture in her foot.
"It's really ironic, because the film is called 'Just My Luck,'" Lohan says. "I was coming out of the shower
yesterday morning and I slipped. I can't wear heels -- that's the bad thing."
Perhaps someone put a hat on her bed. Yes, Lohan is superstitious ... of
people putting hats on beds and tables.
"I am psychotic when it comes to hats on the bed," Lohan says. "For some
reason, everyone puts a hat on my bed. I need to keep a sign up in my room."
Lohan's luck may be precarious, but her upcoming film slate certainly isn't.
After having been forced to star in "Herbie: Fully Loaded" last summer to fulfill a contract with
Disney, Lohan is excited to finally transition to more adult roles. In "Luck,"
the 19-year-old plays a young publicity assistant who becomes a vice president
overnight, partly because of her amazing good fortune. When she kisses a
handsome boy with notoriously bad karma, her character's life then explicably
goes haywire.
"You can only act as if you're in high school for so long," she says. "It was
the perfect thing for me, because it's not a dark film, so I can still keep my
fan base."
Being the romantic leading lady didn't mean Lohan ditched her great physical
comedy skills though. Rarely using a stunt double, she did unglamorous things
such as cleaning a bowling alley floor with a waxing machine while wearing
stilettos (the production thought she'd break her ankles); getting hives from a
washing machine soap suds explosion; and having a piece of old gum fall into her
mouth. But if it keeps new and old fans alike happy, Lohan is game. Plus, she
always has her fantastic party life to which to return. Considering all the
speculation written about her, you'd think she'd be much angrier at the constant
attention.
"Apparently, I just go out to clubs with a sprained ankle and all," Lohan
says sarcastically. In real life she says she prefers to spend as much time as
she can with her friends, assuming they're in the same city (of course
she's bicoastal).
"When I'm in New York, it's great, because I'm really close with my sister.
Whenever she's with me, I think she makes me happy," Lohan says. "She's gonna
play a younger me in a movie, so that she'll be able to be with me."
That picture is "Veronica Decides to Die," and it's a role (not to mention
project) that hadn't been publicly announced yet (whoops). It's just one of many
upcoming things that will keep Lohan busy. Not that she'd have it any other way.
