Earlier this month, the Hitlist asked readers to submit their suggestions on
who should play the newest Bond girl in the upcoming "Casino Royale." It's
almost February, "Royale" was scheduled to begin shooting this week and there
has mysteriously been no official announcement on 007's love interest (The
London Guardian has unofficially tagged "Crash" star Thandie Newton for the role). It seems the
producers still have time to consider your suggestions...
Barry: Isn't it time for a Hispanic leading lady? Eva Longoria may not be kick-ass, but she is the most
photogenic.
HH: A Hispanic leading lady is a fantastic idea and no one would be
hotter than Longoria. Now, whether she could do double duty while shooting the
Los Angeles-based "Desperate Housewives" is a bigger issue.
Chase: The next Bond girl should be Monica Bellucci, Jessica Alba or Kate Beckinsale.
HH: Bellucci would be fantastic but might blow Daniel Craig off the screen (if that's a bad thing). Alba
was another popular choice and so was Beckinsale. But, perhaps they should wait
to cast Kate until Bond has to fight off vampires. She seems to have that market
cornered these days.
Ed: 1. Natasha Henstridge. 2. Jennifer Love Hewitt. 3. Barbara Anderson. 4. Alyssa Milano. 5. Stacy from "Dancing with the Stars."
HH: 1. Old. 2. A little too girl-next-door, don't you think? 3. The
only actress named Barbara Anderson the Hitlist could find was born in 1945. So,
either you're into older women or there's a major disconnect here. 4. Milano
would have been an interesting choice 10 years ago. 5. Not a bad idea,
but probably only for a one-scene cameo.
Kelli: I think Denise Richards would be a good choice. She's
beautiful, talented and is very well liked. I'm so tired of Angelina Jolie. Enough about her!
HH: Well, Ms. Jolie isn't going anywhere, but you'll be happy to know
the chances of her starring in "Casino Royale" are slim. As for Richards, you
weren't the only one to suggest her, but she's already appeared as a Bond girl
in "The World Is Not Enough." In fact, Richards gave one of her
most unintentionally comic performances as nuclear scientist Dr. Christmas
Jones. Then again, if the filmmakers were looking for some laughs, bringing back
Richards would be the way to go. |
