It's amazing to realize that a little more than a year ago, most people
wouldn't have recognized Seth Rogen. Now his success in "Knocked Up" and "Superbad" has inexplicably put him on the A-list.
Rogen's talent is so valued now, that an Internet trailer/short he produced with
former "Undeclared" cohort Jay Baruchel (the upcoming "Tropic Thunder") and writing partner Evan Goldberg has been
acquired by independent financier Mandate Pictures.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rogen and Baruchel will star in the
big-screen version of "Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse." Rogen and Goldberg will
also write and produce the comedy that finds two men ready to kill each other
after being cooped up too long in one place as the planet is being invaded by
monsters. Jason Stone, another "Undeclared" alum, directed a teaser trailer and
is putting the finishing touches on a short version of the story. Stone is not
expected to helm the feature-length movie, although it's unclear why.
The independently financed "Apocalypse" will shoot in 2009 after Rogen
finishes the action comedy "The Green Hornet." Currently, Rogen appears in his mentor Judd Apatow's latest untitled project about the world
of stand-up comedy. The dramedy stars Adam Sandler, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, Jason Schwartzman and Jonah Hill and is expected to be Sandler's regularly
scheduled big summer movie for 2009. Rogen just wrapped "Observe and Report," the follow-up comedy from Jody Hill, the
director of "The Foot Fist Way."
But wait, there's more! Rogen's busy schedule also includes promoting the
highly anticipated "Pineapple Express," which hits theaters Aug. 8. He'll then
return to theaters this fall in Kevin Smith's latest comedy, "Zack and Miri Make a Porno."
Yep, Rogen hit it big and is milking it for all it's worth.
