"A Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984)
We're back with Wes Craven again, this time as he introduces the
monstrous Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) into the dreams of the children of
Springwood, Ohio. Freddy gets you when you sleep, and no one learns this lesson
more grotesquely ... morethan Glen (a young Johnny Depp) who passes out on his
bed and is pulled into it, only to be spat back out a moment later as a geyser
of blood and pulped flesh. "Elm Street" gets bonus points for the end of poor
Tina (Amanda Wyss), who's dragged up a wall and across a ceiling as invisible
blades turn her into beef strips.
