The porn actress who brought California's X-rated film industry to a standstill last week (ends23Aug13) after testing positive for HIV has thanked fans and well-wishers for their support as she comes to terms with her medical crisis. Cameron Bay took to Twitter.com on Saturday (24Aug13) to thank everyone who had offered her their support after a standard health screening revealed she had been infected with the disease.
She wrote, "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the positive energy, well wishes and the love."
She added, "I hope everyone is well and unaffected... And healthy. I'm still coming to terms with all this but thanks to everyone showing love I feel stronger than ever."
Officials at the Free Speech Coalition, which monitors the adult film industry, announced a nationwide moratorium on shooting on Wednesday (21Aug13) after learning about the HIV test results for the actress.
Bay's agent Mark Schechter adds, "Cameron is obviously distraught over this conclusive information provided to her, and yet she has been 100 per cent co-operative with the medical personnel, strictly in the interest of ensuring the fastest possible partner notification for the benefit of all concerned.
"Cameron has been a model citizen acting responsibly at this most difficult time. Her courage should be lauded."
The actress also issued a statement, which read: "As difficult as this news is for me, I am hopeful that no other performers have been affected. I plan on doing everything possible to assist the medical professionals and my fellow performers. Following that, my long-term plan is to take care of myself and my health."
