The "Y Tu Mama Tambien" star admits he was so excited to land the opportunity to work with the "District 9" filmmaker, he didn't hesitate to accept the role of Julio alongside leading man Matt Damon.

He tells NBCLatino.com, "My agent told me to never do that again - it's a good idea to read the script before you say, 'yes'. But I am a huge fan of Neill's work, and the chance to work with a young guy who has so much to say and is so clear about his vision was amazing."

Neil Blomkamp was a Hollywood A-lister after his directing debut in 2009 with "District 9."  Why would anybody read a script to be able to work with the new wunderkind?  It was a lot like getting a chance to work with M. Night Shymalan after he made "The Sixth Sense," but before his career went south.

If you saw district 9 what would make you want to see this! It's district 9 at higher altitude.

I could have sworn I saw an artist's conception of a similar space colony some time ago, maybe in an old copy of Popular Science or Omni.
