This sounds like a bad joke or a hoax, but the most requested book at Guantanamo Bay's most secure facility, Camp Seven, is apparently none other than BDSM bodice-ripper "Fifty Shades of Grey," reports the Huffington Post.
"Rather than the Quran, the book that is requested most by the [high-value detainees] is 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' They've read the entire series in English, but we were willing to translate it," says a Virginia rep who visited the facility last week. "I guess there's not much going on, these guys are going nowhere, so what the hell." Military officials would not confirm the story, because they will not confirm the existence of Camp Seven.
Reuters, which was not allowed to see Camp Seven but did get to visit the
Gitmo library last week, says it also has "Star Trek" novels, Agatha Christie
mysteries, and both the book and film of "The Hunger Games." Librarians say they
have screened and censored the reading material for sexual content in the past
... which must make their copy of "Fifty Shades" a very short read.
