Helen Mirren refused to reprise 'The Queen' role for 'RED 2'

Dame Helen Mirren was asked to reprise her role as Queen Elizabeth II for a comedy scene in her new movie "RED 2," but the veteran actress decided it would be a bad idea.

Mirren won an Oscar for her portrayal of the British monarch in 2006 film "The Queen," and she recently played the monarch again in West End stage show "The Audience."

Mirren recently revealed the producers of "RED 2" wanted to include a regal moment in the action sequel when her retired assassin character pretends to be delusional to gain access to an asylum, but the actress rejected the idea.

"The writers thought it was very funny, of course, that I would pretend to be the queen," she told Britain's The Independent. "I suggested it should be Elizabeth I, I thought that would be a funnier take than the present queen... I so tried to wriggle out of that particular mantle."

One more proof that Helen Mirren is still the definition of class.
