WENN

Hollywood actor Ewan McGregor donned a traditional Scottish kilt to collect his Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal at Buckingham Palace in London on Friday.

The "Moulin Rouge" star attended a ceremony at the royal residence, where he was presented with the medal by Charles, Prince of Wales.

McGregor was feted for services to drama and charity, while other honorees included Olympic track star Mo Farah and rower Anna Watkins.

Before the ceremony, the actor shared his excitement with fans in a series of posts on Twitter, writing, "This morning I will be wearing my kilt for a special occasion. First time in a long time. Love the kilt... Pics (sic) to follow for sure. It's not till later, but I'm up early cause I'm excited."

He later sent out another message on Instagram: "Here's my OBE. Congratulations to all those who recieved honours today. A very diverse, interesting group."

The honors were presented after previously being announced as part of Queen Elizabeth II's New Year Honors list.
