Penelope Cruz, 39, is in talks to play the latest and oldest Bond "girl" in the untitled 24th "007" movie.
A source close to the production tells Yahoo! Movies U.K. that the "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" star will get up close and personal with current James Bond actor Daniel Craig. She would overtake Honor Blackman's title as the oldest Bond beauty.
If the rumors are true, pregnant Cruz will have to bounce back to her pre-baby weight after giving birth to her second child with her husband, Javier Bardem -- who played the villain in the most recent Bond film, "Skyfall" -- in time for the start of production next summer.
Reports suggest Sam Mendes is reconsidering not returning to direct the next Bond film, and Sony Pictures boss Amy Pascal recently confessed she has been trying to persuade Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow to become the first woman to helm a Bond movie.
It's about time they had an actress the same age as James Bond....
Plus she's an Oscar winner...
39 is considered old?...that's sad....and why is it Bond "girl", shouldn't it be woman or lady?....a girl would technically be a child....
The Bond men are no spring chickens, in fact more like middle aged. I guess the target audience is male, probably older males and it suits their egos to see the geezers with the babes.
