Studio denies casting Timberlake in 'Annie'

WENN

A Sony Pictures representative has dismissed reports suggesting Justin Timberlake has been tapped to star alongside young Quvenzhané Wallis in the upcoming remake of movie musical "Annie."

The singer-actor was rumored to be in consideration to portray Daddy Warbucks -- the role made famous by Albert Finney in the 1982 classic -- after working with the film's producer Jay-Z on his new song "Suit & Tie."

However, a spokesperson for the studio behind "Annie" has denied the claims, which would have pitted Timberlake opposite the "Beasts of the Southern Wild Oscar" nominee Wallis, who has replaced Will Smith's daughter, Willow, as the lead in the film.

The rep tells GossipCop the reports are "not true," and insists Timberlake is not involved at all with director Will Gluck's film, which is slated for release next year.

He would make a better Rooster Hannigan. To be honest, I don't like the choice for Annie either.
