Sofia Vergara is in talks to join Jason Statham in a planned remake of cult 1986 action thriller "Heat."
Bing: Sofia's wardrobe malfunction
The "Modern Family" star is interested in playing Statham's leading lady as he steps into Burt Reynolds' shoes to take over the role of a recovering gambling addict, who offers his services as a bodyguard-for-hire when a female friend is attacked by the mafia, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Director Simon West has taken over from Brian De Palma as filmmaker of the project, which is based on William Goldman's book of the same name. The author adapted the story for Reynolds' original screenplay and will do so again for the modern-day remake.
Not to be confused with the 1995 film "Heat" that pitted Al Pacino against DeNiro. (That was a great film btw and no need for a remake).
I have a basic dislike for "remakes" in any form. Certainly there are enough creative people and minds in Hollywood they should be able to come up with original ideas rather than recycling
already tired stuff constantly.
