Angelina Jolie's latest directorial venture will be written by the Coen brothers.
Joel and Ethan Coen have signed on to write the screenplay for the actress-director's new film about World War II survivor Lou Zamperini. "Unbroken" will be adapted from "Seabiscuit" author Laura Hillenbrand's 2010 novel about the Los Angeles high school track star who raced in the 1936 Berlin Olympics and then survived 47 days in shark-infested waters off the coast of a Japanese island when his plane crashed in the Pacific in 1942. Upon reaching land, Zamperini was captured and held as a prisoner of war for two years.

Jolie took over directing duties in December after "Hunger Games" director Francis Lawrence stepped down, according to the Hollywood Reporter. She will also co-produce the film. The project follows the actress' feature film directorial debut, "In the Land of Blood and Honey," which was a critical hit in 2011.
