Michelle Obama announces Best Picture Oscar

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Michelle Obama made a surprise appearance at the Oscars, opening the envelope that contained the name of the Best Picture winner, "Argo."

Bing: 'Argo' wins Best Picture

Appearing via streaming video from the White House, Mrs. Obama said all of the nominees demonstrated that "we can overcome any obstacle."

She said that message is "especially important for our young people" and thanked Hollywood for encouraging children "to open their imaginations."

The first lady was introduced by Jack Nicholson, who noted that the Best Picture trophy is usually announced solo.

Mrs. Obama wore a silver, art deco-inspired gown by Indian-born American fashion designer Naeem Khan. It was the same dress she wore for the Obamas' dinner with the nation's governors at the White House Sunday night.

It makes sense that Michelle Obama should announce the Best Picture winner. IN a sense, she is an actress. She acts like she is proud to be American. She acts like she cares about the American people. She acts like she supports the US Constitution. She acts like she cares about children (while supporting partial birth abortion). And she conducts herself as a spoiled celebrity by taking her numerous vacations--except that celebrities pay for their own vacations and armed security, while Moochelle does so at taxpayers' expense. She and Barack care more about being "celebrities" than they do about being president and First Lady. This is why our country is going to Hell and becoming a socialist nation. The American people have been fooled into voting for a "celebrity" rather than for a president. God help us all!

Ok, libs, you may now commence with the name-calling and accusations of racism.

We were surprised by this and thought it was very inappropriate.  As the First Lady, shouldn't she have more constructive priorities than this?

More proof that this woman is an embarrassment to this country....what ever happened to the First Lady conducting themselves with dignity....maybe she can give Jimmy Kimmel a lap dance next time...I am sick to death of this lousy excuse of a president and his money and spotlight grubbing spouse...

First we had Hollywood power couple,"Brangelina" then "Bennifer" and now we have "Barelle". She gives out Oscars and he plays golf with Tiger. Guess they finally succeeded at something.Too bad the rest of us bear the consequences or their elitist lifestyle.

The Obama White House is a reflection of the nations misplaced obsession with celebrity. The President and First Lady bring too much that is not centrist to the "people's house". They care not about the main stream or values and ideals that built and made this country great. I believe they see themselves as cutting edge, highly gifted and intelligent, or maybe just "way cool"! The silent (one time) majority is not impressed. If they remain silent, they deserve what they get!
