"Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" and "The Bourne Legacy" star Jeremy Renner has signed on to produce and star in a new movie about journalist Gary Webb.
Webb stirred up fierce controversy for revealing, in a series of articles, the CIA's drug links to Nicaragua's Contra rebels during the Regan administration. In 2004, the Pulitzer Prize-winning writer was found dead from two gunshot wounds to the head. The coroner's judged it a suicide.
"Kill the Messenger" will be directed by Michael Cuesta, and is set to begin production this summer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
