Liam Neeson still interested in portraying Paisley

Liam Neeson turned down the chance to play revered former Irish leader
Reverend Ian Paisley in a biopic because the script was so bad. The actor, who
has played real-life figures Michael Collins, sex doctor Alfred Kinsey and Oskar
Schindler on the big screen, admits he's still interested in portraying the
co-founder of Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party - if the right script comes
along. Neeson says, "I have been approached before. I've read a couple of
scripts based on him, but they were atrocious. They're really bad." Neeson was
originally slated to play another great historical leader, Abraham Lincoln, in
Steven Spielberg's Oscar-nominated film Lincoln, but the role eventually went to
Daniel Day-Lewis when scheduling issues forced the Taken actor to step down from
the project.
