Quentin Tarantino has replaced Leonardo DiCaprio as this year's recipient of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival's (SBIFF) American Riviera Award on January 30.

The actor has been forced to turn down the prize and pull out of the event due to scheduling commitments, so his "Django Unchained" director Tarantino will now be given the honor, which recognizes influential artists in Hollywood, Calif. Festival organizers confirmed on Wednesday that the filmmaker will be honored at the ceremony.

The festival's executive director Roger Durling told Variety, "We were obviously saddened by DiCaprio's conflict, but blown away at the chance to honor Tarantino, one of the most stylistically daring directors, who is an SBIFF favorite." The American Riviera Award recognizes an artist who's had a strong influence on American cinema.
