Samuel L. Jackson: Oscar 'won't validate my stature in Hollywood'

Samuel L. Jackson is unfazed by Hollywood awards, insisting he doesn't need an Oscar to seal his success.

Bing: 'Django' draws attention

The actor has received plenty of critical acclaim for his role as a slave in Quentin Tarantino's Western "Django Unchained," but he was snubbed from the Academy Awards shortlist when the nominations were announced. Jackson, who previously landed an Oscars nom for his turn in 1994's "Pulp Fiction," is adamant the snub doesn't upset him.

When asked if he's bothered about awards, he says, "No, not particularly. I've had a pretty good career. I don't think it will validate my stature in Hollywood one way or another. I've done some pretty interesting things, and it's been a long and rich career. It's definitely not going to help my box office record!"

Boy, has he changed his tune!  Just recently he was complaining that HE should have won the Academy Award for Pulp Fiction.

Who does Samuel L. Jackson think he's kidding?  Winning an Oscar is the ultimate validation of an actor's worth in Hollywood because that lil' gold guy comes from peers.  Not the press and not critics, but other actors.  If/when he's nominated, and should he ever be so privileged to actually win an Oscar, his tune will change faster than a riff of Tarantino dialogue in a spaghetti western!!!

I'm surprised he didn't win for Snakes on a Plane. How can he be taken seriously after that??

This is the guy who stated he voted for obama just because he was black.. and fools pay money to keep this racist in Hollywood? Wake up before it is too late.
