'Django Unchained' action figures discontinued
By CHRISTY LEMIRE, AP Movie Writer

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Weinstein Co. has asked a toy maker to discontinue a line of "Django Unchained" action figures after receiving complaints that they were offensive.

The studio said Friday that such collectibles have been created for all of director Quentin Tarantino's films, including "Inglourious Basterds," and that they were meant for people 17 and older, the audience for the film.

Bing: 'Django' garners criticism, acclaim

"Django Unchained" is a violent mix of spaghetti Western and blaxploitation genres about a freed slave (Jamie Foxx) who becomes a bounty hunter. Civil rights groups argued that the toys trivialized the horrors of slavery.

"We have tremendous respect for the audience, and it was never our intent to offend anyone," The Weinstein Co. said in a statement. Toy maker NECA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

why?  Those who are offended ( SPIKE baby I am talking to you ) need to put on their big boy pants and get over it.  Oh wait, is he offended because Fox's character was a slave and then freed and then went to get his ( absolutely gorgeous ) wife?  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm was it the violence?  really?  I guess Spike doesn't watch his own movies.  Oh wait, I know, I guess because the producers ought to use the language of the day.  No one said it was pretty.  You can hate the N word all you want.  You can hate the Stars and bars all you want.  You can hate the past all you want.  Yes you can hate it all, but you cannot change any of it.  It is what it is and it was what it was. When the AA community stops calling themselves the N word on  regular basis, then i might truly believe that they want to erridicate it from the language.  Maybe if we all try harder to remember how ugly the past was we won't be doomed to repeat it.

How ****ing stupid.  Nobody seems to be bothered by the way the "Native Americans" are represented, stolen from and lied to, but you cant say anything about the black community.  At least they were allowed to stay alive and continue on for generations.  Not so much for the "Native American".  Why don't you get up in arms about that Spike?

I never liked those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle things.  Can they stop making those?  There's at least four minority groups there that should be offended...
