Bing: 'Les Mis' racks up acting noms

"The Ides of March" actress was rumored to have lost out on a role in Tom Hooper's new movie to London's West End performer Samantha Barks, who makes her film debut as Eponine. Wood has now opened up about the speculation and revealed she was initially given a place in the cast, but had to turn it down.

After a fan on Twitter asked, "I heard you originally auditioned for Eponine in the Les Mis movie. What'd you think of Samantha Barks performance in it?" Wood replied, "I was actually originally cast, but respectfully declined for personal reasons. The press got it wrong. Set record straight."

Scarlett Johansson, Lea Michele and Taylor Swift were also said to have tried out for the coveted role of Eponine.

sour grapes? considering Samantha Barks hit it out of the park (in my opinion), I'm GLAD Ms Wood "turned it down"

No offense, but I am glad she turned it down.  Ms. Barks was perfect!

Samantha Bark was the best part of that movie.  What a great turn of events that Wood declined.  Eponine was portrayed flawlessly by Bark, who surely will be showing up an many new venues.

The personal reason was that she knew she wouldnt get the part.  Just because you date a singer doesn't make you one
