Stephen Baldwin is convinced his faith destroyed his film career

Actor Stephen Baldwin is convinced his devotion to Christianity cost him his Hollywood career.

"The Usual Suspects" star became a born-again Christian after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America, and he has been outspoken about the lengths he would go to stay true to his faith ever since. But Baldwin insists his religious beliefs have made him unpopular in the industry, revealing that no filmmakers want to work with him because he is often considered too controversial.

Bing: Angus T. Jones apologizes for slamming 'Two and a Half Men'

He tells "Good Morning America," "I'm getting ready to direct two or three movies next year that are faith-based films. I'm kind of full-blown faith-based right now, and that's just where I'm at in my walk of Christianity. But isn't it weird, that as a Christian, I had a casting director come up to me two years ago and say, 'I'm really sorry, because I've brought your name up in castings for a while now, and they all just look at me like I'm crazy."

Reporter Amy Robach then asked, "Is it possible to be successful in Hollywood and be an outspoken Christian?" and Baldwin responded, "Sure doesn't seem like it now, does it?"

Religion has been a hot topic in Hollywood as of late -- teenage "Two and a Half Men" star Angus T. Jones made headlines earlier this week after publicly calling the comedy "filth," following his recent spiritual awakening. He has since apologized.

"What Would Jesus Do?" is not just a slogan! This book gave a congregation a year to live as Jesus would and in so doing put a lot of people at crossroads in the choices they were making in their lives, jobs and relationships.

Religion seemingly thinks that they hold the answers & keys to living in this way, yet considering Jesus was a spiritualist and left the church to Caesar (so to speak) the way in which it has sparked such discontent & maligning of those who seek to live in a righteous way would suggest otherwise - I'd say Mr. Baldwin has started the same walk as those who found themselves in that year long challenge - put to the test as it were and I congradulate him an others who find themselves so challenged!

If he knew how to keep his religion to himself he might still have a career.  No one wants to hear about your personal beliefs especially if you are something as obnoxious as a born again christian.  It's fine to have beliefs but when you start bothering people with them you get what you get. Live how you want to live, but keep other people out of it.

---This is a message of peace, we could all get along if we stopped trying to get everyone else to join our club and do our own thing.  I wouldn't expect religious people to understand that.  Not everyone wants to be saved.

Ever since the 90's there has been a "creep" of religiosity in Hollywood.  Time to get religion out of every place except inside the churches!
