Rocker Mick Jagger has confirmed reports that he is to produce a James Brown biopic, saying he is honored to be involved.

The Rolling Stones frontman has joined forces with scriptwriters Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth, and Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer, who is also in negotiations with "The Help" director Tate Taylor. The film will be a co-production between Imagine and Jagger's company Jagged Films, and producers are now looking for an actor to take the lead role as the Godfather of Soul.

Jagger tells Deadline.com, "It's a great honor to be involved with a project as rich as the story of the legendary James Brown. He was a mesmerizng performer with a fascinating life."
