Sammi Kane Kraft, who starred in the remake of "Bad News Bears," has died in Los Angeles after a car accident early Tuesday morning, E! News reports.

The 20-year-old, real-life athlete, who landed her role in the 2005 remake due to her baseball skills, was a passenger in an Audi that was rear-ended by a truck on the 10 Freeway, and then struck by another vehicle. Kraft was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where doctors pronounced her dead.

The driver, Molly Kate Adams, received treatment for moderate injuries, and was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving. In the "Bad News Bears" reboot starring Billy Bob Thornton, Kraft played Amanda Whurlitzer, the tomboy role made famous by Tatum O'Neal in the 1976 original film.
