Denzel Washington: Eastwood still 'my hero'

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Clint Eastwood has taken a lot of barbs over his empty chair routine at the Republican National Convention, but Denzel Washington still holds the film legend in high regard.

"I have the utmost respect for him as an actor and as a director," Washington said. "He's my hero."

Although Washington supported Obama in 2008, he graciously declined to address an empty chair or do any "Eastwooding," as it's come to be known on the Internet. He calls himself an independent and said in this election he isn't committing to either side.

"I listen to both sides of the argument and try to make an assessment," he said.

Washington was in the nation's capital along with Olympic champion Michael Phelps and R&B singer Ashanti for an event sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of America.

The point is, Denzel and Clint can be friends regardless of their political views.  Couples, as in two people, do not always agree on the same things.  When you base someone for being a leftist or bash someone for being in the tea party, then you are a hypocrit.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion, because like other members in your family, you do not always agree.  That does not mean you call them names.

I don't agree with Clint Eastwood 's view that Mitt Romney would be a good choice for president, and I also think his little routine didn't work (though it has made for some hilarious memes). But, it would be ridiculous to sum up the life of anyone based on one silly stunt. Eastwood is a superb actor, writer, and one of the best directors around. I don't really have to agree with his politics unless he decides to run for president.  (Please, Mr. Eastwood: Don't run for president!)

eyessade , I agree with you int the political correctness bs that is going on around the country, but i dot agree with u sayin that eastwood was telling the true about everything . If you remember that night he try to blame the Irag and Afghanistan war on Obama by stating that we should have ask the Russian first. so it was just another political bs and btw at this moment i dont trust either party not even the independent they are all the same.
