Josh Hartnett Suing Mad Over Sex Tape Claim

It was one of the few Josh Hartnett performances we were excited to see, but alas, it looks like his alleged caught-on-tape friskiness with a mystery woman in the library of a London hotel never happened.

The BBC reports the actor, who is in London to star in the stage production of "Rain Man," is taking the Daily Mirror to court over its "saucy hotel romp" story, which claimed he was captured getting "pretty hot and heavy" on a security camera.

Hartnett wants a public apology and damages for defamation.

The paper maintained that after "cringing hotel workers" saw his supposed "steamy shenanigans," a staffer "had a quiet word in Josh's ear and he was asked to take his personal business elsewhere in the future. Josh took it on the chin and didn't kick up a fuss. He's been as good as gold since."

According to Hartnett's lawyers, the accusations are "not only untrue but a complete fabrication," adding for good measure that they're "defamatory and unsubstantiated."

Josh also dismissed the report during an interview with British TV show "This Morning," scoffing, "It's rubbish. The paper said it was 'rumored' I was caught on [the security camera]. But how can you have a rumor about a video? It would be on the internet now."
