| Jane Fonda (Dec.
21): She's been Barbarella, Hanoi Jane, the "Go for the burn" fitness
guru and multiple Oscar-winner. Fonda's restless talent and political
involvement made her a true poster child of the '60s and '70s, so it's little
wonder she was one of the era's most influential actresses. Her Oscars (for "Klute" and "Coming Home"), along with her other high-profile films such as
"Julia," "The China Syndrome," "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" and "On Golden Pond" (co-starring her beloved dad, Henry Fonda, who died shortly after filming),
comprise a stellar body of work. Then Fonda commenced working on her stellar
body, with a fitness enterprise that kicked the country into high gear. She left
Hollywood during her marriage to mogul Ted Turner but recently has made a
welcome return; her performance in "Georgia Rule" was by turns nuanced, warm and steely.
