Michelle Pfeiffer: We hadn't seen
Michelle Pfeiffer on the screen since her impressive, underrated turn as a
blonde, poisoning sociopath in 2002's "White Oleander" and we really missed her those five
years. Everyone, including fame-oriented actors, needs a break. So, it's
understandable Ms. Pfeiffer gave herself a little quality time during the early
2000s, but some of us worried the gorgeous star was going to just flat-out
retire. And that seemed unfathomable. Retire? With all that talent? And all that
ravishing beauty? Thankfully, the fine-boned, lush-lipped actress came to her
senses by making a rather quirky choice for her grand entrance -- as the
hilariously evil Velma von Tussle in the musical "Hairspray" adapted from John Waters' original. Pfeiffer was
terrific, audiences loved it and the actress was allowed to sing again,
something we hadn't witnessed since her wonderful performance in "The Fabulous Baker Boys." Suddenly, we were experiencing a case
of Pfeiffer fever as the actress appeared in the fantasy picture "Stardust" and, to anoint her as one of her ultimate movie
goddesses, received her well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The
big screen needs Michelle Pfeiffer ... more often. (New Line
