Best & Worst Movie Careers in '07

By Kim Morgan
Special to MSN Movies

To quote an overused but entirely applicable phrase concerning the year 2007: "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times" -- cinematically speaking. Whereas some bona fide masterpieces were released ("Zodiac" and "No Country for Old Men" immediately come to mind), there were also some major baddies -- such as the inexplicably popular "Wild Hogs," or "The Number 23," or the "The Heartbreak Kid" or for the love of Pete, "Good Luck Chuck." And within (and in some cases behind) these films were the actors and filmmakers -- some who soared out of nowhere, some who made their exciting return, some who crashed and burned, some who made good pictures but box-office failures and some who made ... "Norbit." With that in mind, we're looking back at the best and worst careers of 2007 and not stars we're adverse to (for instance, for "Raising Arizona" alone, we will never dismiss Nicolas Cage) but ones who either found their groove or really need to hire a new dance teacher.
