Movies that are fun or enlightening -- or some combination of both
-- for the whole family tend to get short shrift critically. And in the
movie business, filmmakers have been known to insert a mild swear word or two
into their work so as to avoid getting a "G" rating from the MPAA, which
they're afraid would make them look "soft." Oh, bosh.
Family films, as we already know, can be as classic as that
non-family-appropriate-"family" film, "The Godfather."
