Gifts Under $20 for the Movie Lover

Wearing out my too-high shoes, eating a knock-off version of Pinkberry (not so bad) and falling in love with the NARS cosmetics saleswoman (see below), I picked up 10 potential presents that should please anyone.

Buy: 'Scarface' Calendar

'Scarface' Calendar

$13.99 > BUY

Yes, yes, I know. Every holiday comes the boring old calendar. The art calendar, the dog calendar, the Italy calendar, the soup calendar, the daily affirmation calendar. Stepping into this calendar shop, my eyes glazed over until I said "hello to my little friend." Passing by pretty Audrey Hepburn, glamorous Marilyn Monroe and ever faithful Elvis Presley, I focused on Al Pacino (as Tony Montana) and immediately realized Brian De Palma's bloody 1983 classic is just the bang everyone (and not just "Scarface" fans) needs. Grandma will love it!

Buy: NARS Single Eyeshadow in 'Zardoz'

NARS Single Eye Shadow in 'Zardoz'

$21.00 > BUY

In terms of the $20 rule, we've cheated a little with this item but, come on ... creamy black eye shadow named after John Boorman's 1974 sci-fi cult classic? The extra dollar is worth it. Our NARS saleswoman rattled off numerous movie-title makeups, including "Thunderball," "Amarcord," "Nightbreed," "Goldfinger," "Blade Runner" and "Dolce Vita" blush ("You know, by the brilliant Federico Fellini," she said -- give her a raise, NARS).

Buy: 'Hollywood Babylon' by Kenneth Anger

'Hollywood Babylon' by Kenneth Anger

$7.99 > BUY

You think today's gossip is interesting? Not compared with the dirt the irascible Kenneth Anger dishes in his classic underground snark fest (originally published in 1959). From the eye-catching front cover (a plentiful Jayne Mansfield famously spilling out of her dress) to the sordid stories blazing through the pages (the tome features stars from Jean Harlow to Charlie Chaplin to Errol Flynn and more), the book remains a delight, showing the reader that there was no such thing as the good old days. Or, depending on your take, just the reverse.
