I have never understood why the press (and public, evidently) panned "Meet Joe Black!" It remains one of my favorite Brad Pitt movies. The relationship between Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Claire Forlani, Jake Weber, and Jeffrey Tambor ring true for me, as well as bittersweet. Pitt's character Joe Black is mysterious, tragic, funny and luminescent. It is an extremely interesting take on the afterlife based on "Death Takes a Holiday." Any fan of Brad Pitt's work who missed this gem is in for a pleasant surprise by this flick that put's his wit and charm on full display. When I'm in the mood for a great tearjerker, "Meet Joe Black" gets me every single time!

What?! No Twelve Monkeys?  No Seven?  The Former shouldve landed Mr Pitt the Oscar that year.  The latter contains some of his most memorable lines of dialogue.  ('What's in the Box?  What's in the BOX?!!!)

Good Brad: Billy Beane in "Moneyball" (2011)

Pitt received his third Oscar nomination for one of last year's most acclaimed films, a biopic about Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane who, with the help of Jonah Hill's character's expertise in crunching baseball stats, finds a way to lead his team to a record-breaking winning streak. Bennett Miller directed the compelling screenplay by Aaron Sorkin and Steve Zaillian. However noble or troubled Pitt's complex characters have been over the past two decades, it's clear that Brad's acting abilities and star power have never been brighter.
