Saw this how as a young teen when it first came out. To this day, just thinking about it still scares the bejeebers out of me. Some things just don't belong on the big screen - this movie was one of those things. So bad, heard that even Linda Blair needed counseling after playing the role. Yikes.

Hands down the most frightening motion picture ever produced. Anybody that disputes it is nuts. Just as effectively creepy as it was in 1974 when I saw it for the first time.

I still say that the scene where she runs down the stairs like a spider, vomiting blood, is the creepiest ever.

This is still the scariest movie I've ever seen. Linda handled that role like a boss ;)

Regan MacNeil from "The Exorcist" (1973)

Why: "The Exorcist" absolutely deserves to be the first horror film ever nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award. 

Regan MacNeil (Linda Blair), a young girl possessed by the devil, is so stupefyingly scary that, almost four decades later, she still gives us nightmares.  How could we ever forget that demonic, rough voice, the green projectile vomit and her head spinning 360 degrees?  Then there's the viciousness with which she attacks her mother, the sick things she does with a crucifix, and her eerie chuckling as she sits next to the old, dead priest.  Whether or not you believe in demonic possessions, this kid will scare the bejesus out of you.

Creepiest Scene: Where do I even start?  From the moment Regan is thrashing around on the bed, screaming obscenities, levitating, and speaking in that satanic voice, it's a creep show.  But I'd have to say that the entire exorcism scene is the scariest.  Regan is tied to the bed, diabolical in her quietness, taunting the priests in that freezing cold room.  The devil finally does leave her, possessing Father Karras (Jason Miller) instead, and he hurls himself out the window to his death.
