By 1922, he was writing and co-directing (with Robert McGowan) "Our Gang" comedy shorts for "Hal Roach" and later also penned FBO's Beauty Shop series. His work almost always centering on children, McNamara was one of "Mary Pickford"'s collaborators on the harrowing "Sparrows" (1926) and, in the sound era, wrote the screenplay for "Mitzi Green"'s "Little Annie Rooney" (1933), based on Harold Gray's popular comic strip. ~ Hans J.
