Director Born: September 8, 1904 in Tacoma, WA Death: December 9, 1989 Biography:After beginning as an assistant director at the dawn of the sound era, "R.G. (Bud) Springsteen" became a director 15 years later, during the declining years of the B-western, and managed to establish himself as the leading director within that genre, working with the last wave of B-movie cowboys, including "Allan "Rocky" Lane" and "Wild Bill Elliott". His work is uniformly engaging, from oaters like "Marshal of Laredo" (1945) to light romantic comedy like "Fabulous Senorita" (1952), and includes gangster movies, thrillers, and historical dramatizations "Operation Eichmann" (1961), including several made in England. ~ Bruce Eder, All Movie Guide
