Stevens" began appearing on-stage and in films in childhood. She initially billed herself as Katharine Stevens. She played leads and supporting roles in numerous films during the '40s and '50s. Eventually she became a character actress. On television, she guest starred in numerous series and played Peggy Mercer on the soap "General Hospital".
