Director Born: June 14, 1878 Death: November 7, 1964 Biography:John S. Robertson began his two-decade Hollywood career at Vitagraph in 1915. "Robertson" did some acting and scriptwriting before concentrating on directing. His silent-film directorial credits include the 1920 "John Barrymore" version of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", "Mary Pickford"'s "Annie Laurie" (1927), and Garbo's "The Single Standard" (1928). He was also instrumental in building up the careers of several promising newcomers, notably actress "May McAvoy" ("Sentimental Tommy", "The Enchanted Cottage"). During the talkie era, he spent most of his time at RKO Radio, helming such films as "Little Orphan Annie" (1932) and "Grand Old Girl" (1935). "John Stuart Robertson"'s final film was the 1935 "Shirley Temple" vehicle "Our Little Girl" (1935). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
