One of the better "Boss Heavies" around, Richardson even starred in a couple of low-budget Westerns in the 1920s, but was not really suitable hero material. Today he is perhaps best remembered for playing the brutal servant -- in blackface, no less -- in Thomas H. Ince's justly infamous "Free and Equal" (1915, released 1925). Richardson's career lasted through the 1940s, but mostly in minor roles. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
