Travers became a star in the role of the physical-culturalist title character in "Wee Geordie" (1955), an assignment that required him to "beef up" right along with his character. The husband of actress Virginia McKenna, Travers co-starred with his wife on several occasions, notably in the 1966 box-office success "Born Free." Bill Travers both wrote and acted in "Ring of Bright Water" (1969) and "An Elephant Called Slowly" (1973), and served as director on the "Born Free"-like "Christian the Lion" (1976). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
