Biography:A raven-haired Hispanic beauty who came to specialize in Latina roles -- frequently, though not always, in Spanish-language productions -- Alicia Borrachero grew up in Spain, but attended university as an undergraduate at the Nazareth College of Rochester in New York state. Following graduation, Borrachero hearkened back to her native Madrid for graduate studies in drama under the aegis of mentor Juan Carlos Corazza, then achieved her first major career break in the Spanish series Periodistas (1997). Numerous assignments in Europe and the United States followed; Hollywood productions that cast Borrachero nearly always exhibited an exotic, south-of-the-border flair. These included the Hallmark miniseries Don Quixote (2000) and Mike Newell's epic Love in the Time of Cholera (2007), adapted from Gabriel García Márquez's seminal novel.
