Russell enjoyed his greatest success working in television, where he earned three Emmy nominations and won once, in 1957, for his work on The Phil Silvers Show. "Russell" was also a writer for The Jackie Gleason Show, "The Ed Sullivan Show", and "The Honeymooners". He did write for the big screen occasionally, but not with as much success.
