Built by a Memphis newspaper publisher, who named it after his daughter,
Graceland was purchased by Elvis Presley in 1957 and became home to Elvis and his
parents, Vernon and Gladys. The mansion quickly became a tourist destination and
through the years has become part of Presley's... more legend, cited in hit songs by Paul Simon and Marc Cohn, and even the theatrical film "3000 Miles to Graceland." Its grounds include the Meditation
Garden where Presley and his parents are buried. Close
