PETER ALLEN: Singer, songwriter and pianist Peter Allen fused the show biz dazzle of Broadway and cabaret with a more contemplative balladic style. Discovered by Judy Garland and married to daughter Liza Minnelli for five years, Allen wrote breakthrough hits for Olivia Newton-John... more and Melissa Manchester in the early '70s while carving out his own flamboyant profile on Broadway and in Las Vegas. Allen, who passed away in 1992, was the subject of a hit musical, "The Boy From Oz," for which Hugh Jackman won a Tony Award for his portrayal of the late songwriter.
