his own films like "Pretty in Pink" and "Some Kind of Wonderful," and also made
stars out of Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald, albeit for a short
time. ...
What It Tells Us Now: ... But, more importantly, "The
Breakfast Club" defined teen angst for decades to come and gave Generation X's
white suburban teens a flag they could rally around. When future sociologists
need to know why the children of the (Reagan) revolution grew into such
messed-up adults, "The Breakfast Club" will go a long way toward explaining the
self-centered self-pity that defined so much of Generation X's pop culture and
pop psychology.
