Another film that doesn't get its deserved kudos is 1951's "The Thing From Another World," based on an
award-winning short story by writer John W. Campbell. Filmmaker John
Carpenter added some smart humor and turned Kurt Russell into an action star in the ... moreprocess
and created some of greatest parnoia and tension in any movie. Underrated? Yep,
both Russell and this movie.
We are not sure what to think about the trailers for an upcoming "prequel"
that appears to employ more CGI than practical effects. And we think Rob
Bottin's makeup and other effects in the original still hold up well after all
