Some actresses get typecast as a Scream Queen because they're hot and they've got pipes that can reach octaves that shatter glass, while others might just be sexy and tough. While a good screamer, Adrienne Barbeau is definitely in the second ... morecategory. Barbeau was already a TV star and a '70s sex symbol when her husband, beloved horror director John Carpenter, cast her as the lead in "The Fog," which came out two years after Carpenter's successful hit "Halloween." Carpenter also put Barbeau in his classic sci-fi thriller "Escape From New York" in 1981, and she also played a lead role in Wes Craven's "Swamp Thing." But, my personal favorite is when Barbeau played the emotionally abusive wife of Hal Holbrook in the segment "The Crate," which was part of the horror anthology "Creepshow." She was equally mean and hot, and that's enough to get you included on lists like this one!
