5. "Glengarry Glen Ross"
(1992): "Will you go to lunch? Go to lunch. WILL you GO to lunch?" This
may be Spacey's most famous line in the now iconic salesman classic "Glengarry Glen Ross," a movie that only garnered one Oscar
nomination (for Al Pacino, but why is this surprising
... more anymore?) and is one
of the greatest disquisitions regarding the lives of not only salesmen but also
a soul-sucking consumer culture. Directed by James Foley from David Mamet's brilliant play, the
ensemble-rich adaptation (Pacino, Ed Harris, an unforgettable Alec Baldwin, Alan Arkin and a heartbreaking Jack Lemmon) casts Spacey in the most thankless, and in many
ways, most detestable role -- as office manager. Looking older than his years
(Spacey was only 33 when the picture was released), his middleman,
saving-his-own-skin act was subtle though commanding, and he delivered all that
gloriously staccato Mamet speak with perfection. (New Line/courtesy Everett
