26: The TV legend and comedian is still very much active and in the
public eye. Her bit on the recent Emmys, in a salute to the history of TV
entertainment, was a high point (insert ear tug here). Burnett worked in the
earliest days of TV as a bit player,
... more but mostly focused on theater as a young
actress, earning a Tony nomination for her performance in "Once Upon a
Mattress." Her friendship with another funny redhead, Lucille Ball, led to her own TV show, with a talented troupe
that included Vicki Lawrence and Harvey Korman. Her sendup of Scarlett O'Hara in
the dress made of green velvet drapes -- complete with curtain rods -- is one of
TV's classic comedy bits. We're so glad we had this time together ...
