"FlashForward"

What is it?: A mysterious global event causes everyone on the planet to "lose" 2 minutes and 17 seconds of their lives, during which they all report shared visions of their future, six months ahead.

A team of FBI agents is tasked with unraveling the mystery ... moreof the "event," which provides the general narrative of the show.

Based on a Robert J. Sawyer novel, the show is helmed by "Star Trek: The Next Generation" writer Brannon Braga and film writer David S. Goyer. Cast members include veteran character actor Courtney B. Vance ("The Hunt for Red October"), Joseph Fiennes ("Shakespeare in Love") and John Cho ("Star Trek," "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle").

Grade: A-minus. A compelling premise, solid scripting (far superior to Braga's "Star Trek" work, mercifully), terrific cast, and long-term mystery all make this one to keep an eye on. Fans of long-term "mystery" plots such as "Lost" or "The 4400" should enjoy it.
